La Festa Italiana
Well everyone should be Italian at least once a year! This is by far one of the largest ethnic events held in the Omaha community. The La Festa Italiana provides great food, music, dance and culture.
Authentic Italian foods from pizza to scampi to gelati are made by members of the American Italian Heritage Society. A myriad of delectable pastries are available at the Pasticceria. A deli with authentic fresh foods. Besides the vast assortment of Italian foods, La Festa offers imported goods from Italy, cooking demonstrations, hard to find items and a display from our cultural museum.
Mass in Italian, with all pageantry of Italy, is offered on Sunday morning followed by complimentary coffee and biscotti.
No Italian Fest would be complete without music and dance, and entertainment abounds during this weekend with scheduled shows, marching band and impromptu dancing. In fact in 2011 we offered talent shows themed around American Idol, this was a big hit with children and young adults.
La Festa Italiana brings the friendship, fun and festivity of Italy to Omaha, sharing it with all who attend. It’s a colorful and charming experience that makes everyone feel they have crossed the Atlantic and is very near the Mediterranean.
This event is held every Labor Day weekend, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. We certainly think that this is the place to be on Labor Day weekend where everyone can be a Italian at least once a year and enjoy a taste of Italy.
